Our journey began with a love of the sun, oceans, and beaches. We travel whenever possible, often to the Caribbean, Mexico, and other tropical locations south of Our home on the Gulf Coast. Our summers are hot, humid, and sweltering in June, July, and August. Without appropriate clothing, the conditions can be miserable. The pursuit of this endeavor started after a 10-day trip to the Caribbean with a group of friends, where we realized the need for a different type of fabric for apparel that could be worn year-round and in the heat of the summer. We began searching for a fabric that would meet Our objectives, including providing protection from the sun and sustainability. With no background in textile innovation, We started self-educating ourselves while searching wherever We traveled. Together, We visited other countries, various fabric trade shows, outdoor Expos, and Manufacturers across the U.S. and beyond. After four years of exploration, We finally found a manufacturer in South America who shared Our vision and through trial and error, produced a fabric that met all Our objectives. This is when AHVI BLU was born. The name AHVI BLU stems from several different languages, meaning sun and water.
